About Me
Marie-Claire Pothitos
she / her
I have always found peace in nature, and one of my greatest joys is walking or jogging outdoors with my beloved dogs by my side. I believe that the combination of exercise and nature is a powerful medicine that nurtures both body and mind.
I am also passionate about the quality of our food and its impact on our health. The environment in which our food is grown—from the health of the soil to the welfare of the animals — is vital to our well-being, and my work as a nutritionist is therefore heavily focused on the source of our food, and the quality of its ingredients.
In my twenties I spent several years living in Southern Spain, which awakened me to the benefits of the Mediterranean lifestyle and diet. Those years proved a formative experience, and I have always tried to follow the Mediterranean example of cooking with pure ingredients and vibrant tastes. And while alas I seldom have time for a Spanish siesta, I certainly recognise the importance of a good nap!
My inspiration
At the age of 30, I was diagnosed with cancer. My illness, and slow recovery, was the greatest challenge I had faced, and it was during my treatment that I came to appreciate the crucial connection between mind and body.
My subsequent struggles to conceive a child taught me how vitally our small, day to day choices to do with diet and lifestyle can impact our mental well-being. We cannot always control what happens to us. But we can control how we respond – however insurmountable the challenges might seem.
I understand from my own experience the extent to which emotional challenges affect us physically as well as mentally. It is this insight that inspires my passion for supporting others as they face their own adversities. Through compassionate guidance, I can help you to build a toolkit for mental health, combining self-understanding with practical, sustainable change.
